When I think of scones, I think of a fancy high tea party with some classy people, classy porcelain cups, classy mini sandwiches, and for some reason- white gloves. I clearly have never been to an actual high tea party! Anyways- high tea or not, scones are delicious and should be eaten DAILY.
Eating anything with poppyseeds reminds me of this Russian dessert my family used to buy- it was a loaf with a sweet poppyseed filling. I’d like to thing this is a better version of that dessert.
Did you know that you can actually test positive for opium if you have too many poppyseeds? (Don’t quote me on that!)
Step 1: drip drip.
Step 2: DRIP DRIP
Step 3: MMMMMM
These lemon poppyseed scones are not very sweet. The lemon sugar glaze helps to brighten and sweeten up the scones a bit more, but I highly recommend having these goodies with some sweet tea. It’s a perfect, delicate combination- you will not regret it!
Enjoy these scones with some sweet tea:
Keep it fresh, keep it zesty, and happy brunching!
